Okay, I know I'm being too cute here, but I couldn't resist. As of next Friday, I will be leaving my 5th floor office and moving to a cubicle on the 23rd floor. Change is hard, especially when you're used to having a huge bookshelf and a door that closes. And so, yesterday I went through my sizable book collection, and chose which books to give away and which to take with me to my new cube. I won't reveal the titles I tossed, but here's a sampling of my cubicle must-haves:
Bonjour Tristesse, Francoise Sagan
Blue Angel, Francine Prose
The Pleasures of the Damned, Charles Bukowski
My Mistress's Sparrow is Dead, edited by Jeffrey Eugenides
The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Michael Chabon
The Ballad of West Tenth Street, Marjorie Kernan
Five Quarters of the Orange, Joanne Harris
My Index of Slightly Horrifying Knowledge, Paul Guest
What do you think? If you only had room for 8 titles, what would they be?
