With the holidays over and January well underway, many people are enjoying ereaders for the first time. I know this makes me sound like a granny, but I still haven't taken the plunge. Don't get me wrong--I think ebooks are fantastic. A book is a book, and ebooks are assuredly increasing literacy and intellectual engagement. But if you're still determined to hold a book in your hand, inhale it, turn its pages, dog-ear it, or hand it off to a loved one, here are two clips that have lately reminded me of the tactile power of a physical book.

The first clip takes place at a wonderful bookstore in Toronto called TYPE Books which I frequented when I lived in Canada. Awesome place!

I work at a big bookstore that is pushing their ereader, and I still can't bring myself to get one either. You're not alone. :)
Although while moving recently I was mildly swearing while carting the 12th box of books up the stairs...

You'd elope with the heroine's younger, misguided sister, and become a source of scorn and derision. A bit more exciting than landed gentry, no?
