I've been a very bad blogger, that much is certain. It's not that I haven't been reading--I have! But between author events and last week's Texas Library Association conference...I've neglected Roaring. So, with my heartfelt apologies, I am putting something very special on the blog today. Call it html bribery, if you will, in the form of some very big names in fiction:
John Cheever, Richard Ford, Donald Barthelme, Jhumpa Lahiri, Russell Banks, Andre Dubus, Richard Yates.
What? All in one place? And in paperback?
Blue Collar, White Collar, No Collar: Stories of Work--out this week--follows in the tradition of anthologies like My Mistress' Sparrow is Dead (edited by Jeffrey Eugenides). Not only does the book deliver stellar fiction from lauded masters, but proceeds go to charity. If there's a better treat for your Hump Day, I don't know what it could be. Sure, maybe I lack imagination. Or maybe you should just leave work and go read Blue Collar, White Collar, No Collar. I know I want to.
